What is a Biolase Waterlase MD Dental Laser?

A Biolase Waterlase MD dental laser uses a fine spray of water and laser light to
create a reaction that has the effect of cutting hard tissue (your teeth). The Waterlase
MD also has the capability to cut and contour soft tissue such as your gums.

What can it be used for?

The Biolase laser can be used to remove tooth structure without the need for drills.
The laser can prepare your teeth and remove decay so a lifelike resin bonded
restoration can be placed on your tooth making it almost as good as new.

The Waterlase MD can also be used for bone and gum surgeries. This dental laser
can be an alternative to traditional gum surgeries. Periodontal disease and pockets
can be treated without painful surgeries in a matter of minutes instead of hours.

This laser can be used on your cold sore at the first sign of an outbreak and the cold
sore will just disappear!

The uses for the Waterlase MD are endless!

Is it better than a drill for a filling?

The tooth surface prepared with the Waterlase MD dental laser is superior to a
surface prepared with only a drill. The laser creates small crater like surfaces and
also removes the smear layer on the tooth which will significantly increase the
bonding strengths of our resin filling materials.

Do I need to get an injection to get numb?

Most patients note the tooth gets cold during the procedure but it is comfortable
without an injection. On procedures on your gums, I suggest the use of topical
numbing gel which is applied directly to your gums or tissue with a cotton tipped
applicator. We rarely need to use injections with this laser.
